Want a job? Learning to fly could be a good option

If you?re looking for a job, you could do worse than consider a career as an airline pilot.

The overall U.S. economy may not be?able to generate any job growth, but CNBC?s Phil LeBeau reports Friday that Boeing predicts the airline industry?will hire 466,650 new pilots by 2029, with 186,000 needed in Asia and 97,000 hired in North America.

The global airline industry downsized after Sept. 11, 2001, but ten years on it?s on an upswing and ramping up hiring. Some airlines are even setting up job fairs in the United States and re-opening recruitment offices, LeBeau reports. A starting salary for a pilot is in the mid-$40,000 range.

How did Business Jets meet Business Networking? - Ecademy

1) Please explain how EJONE works, who is behind it and what is the strategy?

Thomas Power & myself met a few years ago in Liverpool, home of the Beatles. I (Fabrizio Poli) have been in aviation most of my life as I learnt to fly a plane before I learnt to drive a car. Before moving into the professional aviation environment I built a successful business selling weight loss products. I then worked for 5 years in the corporate jet industry in aircraft sales, marketing, charter sales & flew Citation 500 Series & Falcon 900s. I then flew as a pilot for five different airlines: one Italian regional start-up, one charter UK charter airline, two Low-cost airlines and one national flag carrier (Middle East). I realized I had more talents besides flying. Thomas started his business career as Lord Alan Sugars' first apprentices in the City of London. He the founded ecademy.com with his wife Penny and over 13 years built-up a network of 600,000 business people networking with each other both online & offline (500 events worldwide every month). Thomas & I got talking and came up with the idea of combining Business Jets with Business Networking. We discovered that High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) are always looking for three things:

We asked a few prominent charter brokers & operators if they had done anything to connect the private jet users amongst themselves & get them doing business together and they all looked at us as if we came from another planet. We immediately saw there was an opportunity.

EJONE offers Biz Jet Charter brokerage service but in a club format. We currently have four divisions: Entrepreneurs, Executives, Celebrities & Kids. As we get people flying & build the community we will start to introduce our Jet Sharing scheme. Here we will get members sharing flights and buying seats instead of paying for the whole jet. The jet sharing is an OPTION we offer, a way of taking business networking to a higher altitude.

We currently have our base in London but will be opening our American base in Calgary, Canada early next year, followed by Shanghai just before summer 2012.
The idea is to get the Biz Jet user in Calgary, connecting & doing business with one in Rio de Janeiro, Milan, Munich, Hong Kong & Singapore.

2) Who is this service targeted at?

HWWIs and the following research unveils some interesting data as to what is happening. Networking is becoming the 21st Century way of doing business & there is a niche of new money coming onto the market that understand this. There are 92,000 people worldwide in the bracket between a networth of $30M and $1bn. Our target market is 5% of that market, bearing in mind that figure is on the increase as you can see from following info:

New Flight Charters reported that in 1st quarter 2011, there was an increase in private jet charters of +37%. A deeper look at these statistics shows that there has been a +278% increase in large jet charters of Gulfstreams, Challengers & Falcons.

According to Honeywell's Business Aviation Outlook, issued in October 2010, there will be 11,000 new business jets entering the market between 2010-2020, 5,000 of these before 2015.

UK newspaper The Guardian in July 2011 reported:"The globe's richest have now recouped the losses they suffered after the 2008 banking crisis. They are richer than ever, and there are more of them - nearly 11 million - than before the recession struck."

EpiServer conducted a survey in June 2011 and discovered 69% of UK businesses are to appoint a Social Media or Community Manager this year.

3) Which operators are you working with and in which regions? And why did you chose these particular partners.

Right now our focus is on Europe with the Americas & Far East to follow soon. We are working together with GAMA Group & London Executive Aviation & a pool of smaller operators. In order for an operator to qualify to work with us we look at how their pilots are trained, maintenance, cabin inflight service & also how quickly & effectively they get back to us when we have a request. Both GAMA & LEA have very high standards.

4) What are the advantages for customers to fly with EJONE?

There are many reasons. First we offer our networking club and get the Biz Jet users doing business together. We will get a guy in California, that flies regularly between Santa Monica & Dallas once a week, connect with someone that flies between London & Nice. The EJONE Club management will know these two members & connect them via our website.

On the Biz Jet Charter brokerage side we know there are some very good brokers out there that do a good job at vetting the operators & offer their clients a good service. However, some of the people we have coming on board as Account Managers are actually qualified & experience pilots. We will get the right candidates Type rated on a biz jet and they will fly some of their own EJONE club members on the operators aircraft. If the "Flying" Account Manager does a good job he will fly around 150-200 hrs a year and earn 2-3 times salary Airline Pilots are currently earning. This will allow us to better service our clients by having our people out on the front line too.

5) What are your plans for the company going forward.

We will be starting special information sessions called "Biz Jet Advantage" where we will be educating audiences of how a Biz Jet or helicopter can become a valuable business tool. We will also show them how the whole networking part works too & how they can benefit. Our official launch will be in London end of September and Club networking events will start in October-November. We want to keep them small to around 10-12 members but of high value. As an EJONE Club member you become part of a community of Biz Jet users that does business together on a global basis.

We look at acquiring 100 members in year one and then expand to 300 in year two and 500 members in year three. We are aiming at having events in 20 cities worldwide, with three main operating bases: London- Calgary-Shanghai.

The Different Interactive Units of Internet Marketing

The name Internet marketing is fully descriptive of the business because it refers to marketing of products or services via the comparatively novel medium of Internet. However, the term Internet marketing is a multi-colored patch work beach umbrella, which combines in it direct selling, ecommerce, affiliate marketing, sale of advertising space, electronic publishing, search engine marketing, and many related phenomena. Each of these can be an income generating business pattern in isolation or it may work as parts of a larger Internet business transaction.

Direct selling is face-to-face selling of a company?s products without going through retail outlets. The seller of the product will be a representative of the manufacturer and will sell the product for a commission. While direct selling is a very conventional business transaction, it has found its place in Internet marketing also. Manufacturing companies now provide web sites that the representatives can use for a monthly fee. Using this, representatives can take their goods directly to customers as in the case of face-to-face sales.

Ecommerce means the selling of products or services by carrying out transactions over electronic systems. Supply chain management, which consists of taking products to end-users, is a part of ecommerce. Electronic data transfer and electronic fund transfer and other allied business related operations through electronic systems are also part of ecommerce.

Affiliate marketing is an online business model where an independent third party sells the products or services developed by a manufacturer. This Internet marketing model provides an income for lots of affiliate marketers and also increases the profit of the product developer.

Buying and selling of advertising space on the Internet helps the seller of the space to make money. The buyer of the space is benefited by the increased sales generated by the banner ads, pop-up ads, pop-under ads, and interactive media ads that take the information pretty fast to all corners of the globe. Electronic publishing, which is another form of Internet marketing, is the digital publishing of books and journals either for sale or for promotion of websites or products.

Search engine marketing is a facet of Internet marketing geared for increasing the visibility of the web sites so that they get a good ranking in search engine results. Several advertising methods, the most common of which is pay per click method, is used for search engine marketing. It is not possible for Internet based businesses to survive without proper search engine marketing of their websites.

Perhaps the most powerful face of Internet marketing is eBay marketplace where virtually everything can be bought and sold online. No store or shop anywhere in the world will be able to display such a large array of goods of diverse category at one place. Agreed, the goods are not located physically at one place, but customers shop and buy everything sitting on his couch.

Can changing a single word on a sign motivate doctors and nurses to wash their hands?

Campaigns about hand-washing in hospitals usually try to scare doctors and nurses about personal illness, says Adam Grant, a psychological scientist at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. "Most safety messages are about personal consequences," Grant says. "They tell you to wash your hands so you don't get sick." But his new study, which will be published in an upcoming issue of Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, finds that this is the wrong kind of warning.

Hand-washing is an eternal problem for hospitals. Healthcare professionals know it's the best way to prevent the spread of germs and diseases. But, on average, they only wash their hands about a third to a half of the time they come into contact with patients and germs.

Grant had done research in hospitals before, on topics like getting nurses to speak up about safety and reducing burnout among doctors. But when his first daughter was born, Grant's attention was drawn to the hospital's signs about hand-washing. "I noticed a real disconnect between what the signs were emphasizing and what I knew as a psychologist," he says.

As a psychologist, Grant knew about "the illusion of invulnerability"that most people think they aren't at risk of getting sick. His own research had also shown that people aren't motivated only by avoiding dangers for themselves; they also go to work because they want to protect and promote the well-being of others. The problem was, the signs warned about personal risks. These messages should fall on deaf ears among healthcare professionals, who are frequently exposed to germs but rarely get sick. "If I don't wash my hands, I'll be okay. But patients are a vulnerable group," he says.

To test that, Grant and his coauthor, David Hofmann of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, came up with two signs to post over dispensers for soap and hand sanitizer. One said "Hand hygiene prevents you from catching diseases." The other said "Hand hygiene prevents patients from catching diseases." They posted these signs above different dispensers in a hospital and recorded how often people washed, measuring how much soap and gel was used? and having trained observers spy on their colleagues.

The sign about patients was the winner. Healthcare professionals were much more likely to wash their hands if they were reminded that they were keeping patients safe. The patient sign increased soap and gel use by 33% per dispenser, and healthcare professionals were 10% more likely to wash their hands. The sign about personal risks did no good.

"Our findings challenge prevailing wisdom in the healthcare professions," Grant says, "that the best way to get people to wash their hands is to scare them about their own health. Instead, his research demonstrates, you should remind them that hand-washing helps others.

A lot of interventions work well in the beginning, then drop off, and these studies only lasted two weeks. Grant suggests that future studies should test whether these signs would continue to work in the long term. It might be possible keep the message fresh by changing the signs frequently to mention different patients, or to use different slogans, like "Did you wash your hands? What if your mother was the next patient you saw?" Grant says. The punch line here is that it's not all about me. To motivate people to engage in safety behaviors, we should highlight the consequences for others?not only themselves.
