Twitter Value Now at 8 Billion USD After Massive Investment

Twitter?s value is now 8 billion US dollars, after it made a huge investment. The website which made microblogging extremely popular, making its users write messages limited by 140 characters or lower. The new price of Twitter came after it invested 400 million dollars towards DST Global, an investor of social media. As to how Twitter compares now with other companies, it is nearly equal in worth to Moody?s, a ratings agency which earned revenues up to 1.2 billion dollars during the first half of 2011. Twitter is now also almost equivalent in value to Marks & Spencer.

This shows that a lot is expected from Twitter. The micro blogging online company confirmed this investment and the fact that every day, over 200 million tweets are being sent. Compared last year, this value is up by 65 million tweets per day. According to Twitter, there has been humongous progress in this site on many different facets.

First, last year, there are 150,000 registered apps. This year, that grew to a million apps that will allow you to connect to the micro blogging site. Another sign of progress is their workforce, which has grown from 250 to 600 people in the last year. And with the acquisition of DST Global, a venture firm, this will allow Twitter to have a substantial round of funding. These resources will be used by the company to provide hard hitting innovations, hire more great employees and invest to expand on an international scale. DST Global is owned by Yuri Milner.
